Note to Self: “I am Enough”

sunflowerWhen you look in the mirror, what do you see? Are you happy with the person you are becoming? Often times we can pick through the exterior parts of our self and say, “I like this, but I wish that part was better. Is that you?

What about the interior parts of yourself? Can you see them? Have you looked closely? Looking at your eyes, staring at your reflection, what do you see? A part of you is looking at the reflection of yourself, but the other part of you is starting to notice the part of you that others cannot see, the part of you, you do not want others to see. The broken parts of yourself.

Ah! Now you see it! As you swallow, can you feel the tightness that trickles down from your chest to your stomach? It is an uncomfortable thought and feeling that reminds you of that painful experience that, once upon a time, defined your identity. It hurts. “God, help me. Help me accept this part of myself. Help me to forget.” Forget the memories, forget the past, and move forward. How do I do that? “Am I not enough?”

It is my greatest desire as a woman and child of God to help those who are seeking help or beginning the process of healing. Whether it’s healing from past hurts, grieving the loss of a loved one, or accepting a circumstance or situation that’s quite difficult to swallow. I have been there! I have experienced many hardships during my years here on earth, and many of them I didn’t ask for. Most of us just want peace, right? We want a man or woman we can share ourselves with. Love and be loved, obtain the career that pays well, and leave a legacy we can be proud of. Right! If only life was that easy. If only the relationships and time we invested in didn’t impact us so badly that they leave us questioning who we are. “Am I not enough?” – note to self.  If only we made the right amount of money on the job to able to afford the things we need and want, then we wouldn’t have any issues. If only, “I was enough.”

Unfortunately, beloveds, life just doesn’t work out that way, but you are still enough. Right where you are, being who you are today. Can you accept that about yourself? Can you accept that you are doing the best you can do right here, right now? I hope you find comfort in my words to know that you are enough. Take steps to improve areas in your life that you can change inside out. You are the driver of your life and healing starts from within.

Let yourself be the passenger, if needed, to sort out what’s interfering with your growth. But please remember: “You are enough.”

Peace and many blessings,
Ebony Eubanks
